Syltete Rodbeter refers to a Norwegian salad of pickled beets, frequently garnished with hard -cooked eggs.
Sirniki or Syrniki refers to a Russian tasty dessert - a small fried cake filled with farmers' cheese or cottage cheese (Tvorog ) and topped with jam or sour cream. Sirniki is made by combining or mixing together Tvorog, semolina flour, sugar and eggs to make a dough, shape the dough into small balls, roll in flour and then fried until golden brown. Tvorog is cottage cheese (or quark) found in Russia.
Speculaas refer to Dutch cookies which are are sold in different shapes, but the most traditional shape would be the of a windmill. Speculaas are sold in every supermarket around Netherlands. They have an unusual taste, that comes from a combination of the multiple spices used. Dutch people have made a habit out of dipping the cookie in their coffee. Speculaas is one of the many spiced cookies eaten on St. Nicholas' Eve, December 5 in the Netherlands. Note: Sounds similar to German's Spekulatius which is a specialty during Christmas time in Germany and also made into different shapes.
Spekkie Sla refers to one of the favored dish of the Dutch (The Netherlands) which is made of a cooked mashed mixture of potatoes and chopped endive, served in a soup plate with bacon drippings, vinegar, and freshly ground pepper.
Stamppot Witte Kool refers to Netherland's dish made of white cabbage and potatoes cooked and mashed together and served with butter. Stamppot Witte Kool is a typical winter dish of the Dutch.
Szárnyasok is the Hungarian word for "poultry", as in chicken, hen, pheasant, etc.
