Alimango

Alimango is the Filipino word for "Crab". Its scientific name Scylla serrata. It is also called in English as mud crab, mangrove crab, or black crab. Alimango is sourced from fresh water and is the largest among the four (4) kinds of crabs usually found in the Philippines.

Alimango has large pincers, the shell is thick and tough to crack.

Alimango is prepared in the Philippines in various ways. Halabos na Alimango when it is cooked on its own juice with some spices; Ginataang Alimango (Crabs cooked in Coconut Milk) and Tortang Alimango (Crab Omelette), among others.
